Weekly Wrap-up #82

Hey everyone,

This has been an existing week for me. I’ve just contracted out two musicians this week to produce some new background music and sound effects for Mischieviots!

I previously hired Chris Wickham (Website) to do the background music so far and he’s done such an amazing job, I immediately hired him again to do the rest! I can’t wait to see what he comes up with for the remaining music.

I’ve also reached out to Jack Powell (Website) who will be working on almost 300 custom/unique sound effects for all my monsters, spells, attacks etc found in the game. He has a fantastic plan of attack for all these sounds and I’m looking forward to seeing what he comes up with!

In the meantime, I’ve still been really busy with my “day job”,  but have done a bit of work with my game this week also. Here’s a quick look at the changes done:

  • Minor typo fix in Guard conversation (this has been there for months and nobody noticed!)
  • Implemented new screen shaking to allow usage for any weapon/spell effects. See GIF below!
  • Added same screen shaking ability to be able to be used during map events. See GIF below!
  • The “little animals” hurt animation was a bit too long, so I shortened it slightly.

Articles

I wrote up a quick article this weekend also covering my experiences with screen shaking in hope that others might be able to get something from it.
